After taking last week off and giving Jazmine Duke the floor for Father’s Day weekend, I’m back on this first weekend of summer and this week deals with a little thing I like to call “Heat.” It’s more commonly known as anger and it can be an impediment to just about any conceivable relationship you even think of having.  Just like you can’t let being Hurt cripple your success, being angry does you even fewer favors. And I speak from experience.

For this week’s Edition: I go from the highs of talking about awards to the root of why so many of us do the things we do in the first place. We attack life for a multitude of reasons and often the things we do are driven by something. What has become glaringly clear over the last few years is that a lot of us — myself included — have been driven by pain, rejection, and failure. In short: We’ve been Hurt. And as the above quote says, that can cause more problems than what it’s worth and you likely don’t realize why you’re doing it. Let’s get a little deep on this Friday. #TBT on #JSC (May 23, 2013): Stress Relief


 They say Pressure Makes Diamonds, but it also busts pipes…

DETROIT (JSC) Greetings people. This has been a tough, strange week ’round these parts. Many of those matters either cannot or will not be addressed here, but just know it’s been an interesting mess. It’s another Thursday and it’s time for #TBTonJSC and of all the things I love about throwing it back with my 90s Hip-Hop steez is pulling out the obscure joints from the early and mid-90s. This week’s gem is a personal favorite of mine going back to 1994 by a group called the Boogiemonsters. They were a dope collective from Brooklyn who made one song that stuck out as much for it’s dopeness as it did for its ridiculously long name: The Recognized Thresholds of Negative Stress. In a week where I’ve had to chase someone around for money I’m owed, chase down interviews, and hold on to my sanity, this song is right on time.
